Resistance training actually burns few calories directly, although it causes an extended caloric utilization for hours after the session is finished. The average weightlifting workout might burn only 80-120 kcals or so. You can figure 7-9 kcals per minute of work, with the more intense lifts accounting for the greater number. But this energy expenditure does not include rest breaks between sets or the time spent setting up and resting between different exercises. For example, assuming that each of your reps has 3 seconds of time under tension, and that you use the maximum number of sets and reps per set, your 350 total reps would involve only 17.5 minutes of actual work, which would burn a bit less than 160 kcals at the highest average expenditure rate.
Both the Meal Planner on this site and the table on page 84 include in their recommendations the consideration that someone is using resistance training. Therefore, you don’t need to make an extra calculation for this factor in your diet.
