The Importance of Eating the Right Food in Muscle Building
There are a lot of advertisements telling people about foods and supplements
that were supposedly formulated to give you bigger muscles in a very short
span of time. But the truth is, you cannot build muscles on food alone
and there is no supplement that can create muscles for you. You have to
do it the hard way which is through weight lifting.
There are foods that can provide your body the building materials for
your muscles but you have to do the labor yourself. That means that if
you really want your muscle building program to be truly effective, you
have to have a decent diet program along with your regimen.
A lot of people who are into muscle building believe they can eat anything
they want and still achieve very good results; but this is not entirely
true. If for example, there is not enough protein in your diet, your muscle
mass will not grow as it should, even though you are eating to your heart’s
content. To help you with your diet, there are certain foods that you
have to eat everyday in order to keep your muscles growing at a regular
pace. These include:
Selection of Muscle Building Foods.
• Eggs - aside from having high protein content, the egg is also
rich in vitamins and minerals which are essential in keeping all your
bodily functions in top shape.
• Red Mea t -another good source of protein. Red meat is also high
in vitamin B and creatine, an element which provides extra energy essential
for your workout sessions.
• Fish – all types of fish are beneficial for muscle building
but there are certain fish such as tuna, salmon, rainbow trout, sardines
and halibut that have very high omega-3 fatty acids content. These particular
acids prevent the breakdown of muscle tissues and aids in maintaining
and increasing muscle mass.
• Whey - this is perhaps the best source of protein that is available
to you. Aside from protein, it has also been found to contain amino acids
that are essential in building muscles. Whey can be taken in supplement
form which is widely available on the market.
Aside from eating foods that are very rich in protein, there are other
foods that will help your muscle building program and broccoli is an example
of this. Although it is commonly found in vegetable markets, broccoli
is actually a superfood. It is packed full of fibers and antioxidants
but has a very low calorie content.
You should also ensure that you eat enough foods that will provide your
body with antioxidants. This is because free radicals are created in the
body every time you engage in exercise. Antioxidants are proven to fight
the bad effects that they create on the body. For muscle building, you
can try eating sweet potatoes.
Aside from providing you with the necessary carbohydrates, they are also
very rich in potassium. It acts as an antioxidant that fights free radicals
and helps in rebuilding muscle tissues that are damaged during the exercise.
However, although you may be eating all the right foods for muscle building,
it will not be enough if you are not keeping the bad ones out. This means
that fatty and fried foods as well as junk foods are not allowed. It will
keep your calorie intake down while at the same time boost the level of
essential proteins, vitamins and nutrients that is essential for the development
of your body. But since you cannot entirely avoid some foods that are
considered bad for the body like fats, you should try replacing them with
healthier alternatives. For example saturated fats can be replaced by
monounsaturated fats.
