Does anyone know where to find a fairly cheap set of dumbells?

I'd like to have a set at home for those days that I don't feel like going back out into trafic (I have a 1 1/2 ride to and from work 5 days a week).

I was thinking about going online, but the shipping will be terrible.

Does anyone know how much a set should cost?

I'm looking to get a set that goes up to at least 75lb dumbells.

Depends on where you're located. In the Arizona area, they have a second hand sports store called Play It Again Sports. I think the DBs typically go for around 25-40 cents a lb. How about a garage sale. You can probably get some great deals there. I would probably only do ebay if it were local to you. Shipping would be bad.

I don't know about in the US but in the UK, almost every single little town or city has it's own local newspaper and in that paper there is almost always a 'for sale' section.

Usually people put sell entire weights sets and benches for very little.

Just a thought..

Thanks,

I have heard of Play it Again Sports, but I think I saw that in upstate NY. I'll check to see if there's one here.

I don't know why I never thought of the newspaper. I'll check there too and maybe I could even put a wanted add in the paper,

If you were closer to Michigan, I'd sell you a set from 5# - 100# plus three cast iron racks for pretty cheap.

I'd check out the paper like Simes suggested. Another great place to go is Pawn shops and second-hand stores.
