hello,

strangely, i couldn't find any threads on this forum relating to the effects of masturbation on bodybuilding... maybe i misspelled something... anyways...

i am, unfortunately, one of the more frequent masturbators...
my minimum is three and my maximum is twenty something... per day! yes, i know that sounds abnormal, but its just the way it is, i am finding it hard to stay down to 3 but forcing myself.

i have been doing this for about a year, i went through what i believe is "late puberty". In my earlier years, i thought masturbation was wrong, so i didn't do it, plus i didn't have much of an urge for it. However, at the time, i DID get 'wet dreams'(about the strangest stuff though...) but the ejaculate wasn't really semen, it was missing some components, and i hated it when it happened.

About a year ago, i eventually switched my beliefs and started the teenage cycle at an age of 18.x(i know this sounds way too late, but that's how it was).

so...

1) Can someone relate me to a reliable documentation of the effects of over-masturbation?

2) Does anyone know how exactly this would affect someone as a bodybuilder; how it would afect testosterone levels?*

3) or how to stop?!(plz!!!! sexual depressent foods etc.)

* I have a small background about this from physiology. What i remember is that when sperm are released from within the testis tubes, they increase levels of free testosterone in the blood since it was initially held by the growing spermatogonia. However, later more spermatogenesis is at work, and that re-captures testosterone. So maybe this balances out?

Yes I too find it shocking we have not had such a thread before...anyway...errr...to answer your questions

(1) As far as i know, the only effects of "over masturbation" (and i doubt that's ever been defined) would be any damage you could cause to the skin or something to that effect.

(2) I believe effects on testosterone via sex/masturbation, is either conflicting and or minimal.

(3) Ah, how to stop. Being I doubt there is anything physiologically wrong with you, there is probably a psychological basis for your behavior. A few times per day as a teen is one thing, 20 times per day is another...some drugs such as SSRIs (Prozac, etc) would probably help, as would drugs that reduce T, but both may have side effects not worth the hassle. I suggest getting a full physical with blood work to rule anything out followed by talking to a therapist about what is the basis for the behavior.:eek:

thanks, i guess i will do a check.. it is kinda embarrassing though, especially since usually a woman doctor usually checks me up when i'm ill.

as for the 20 part, don't let that put u off, it was only once, one day. after that i would say the average would be 4/day.

i will do a blood test for all minerals, hormones etc. and see if that yield any results without going through the embarrassment.

strangely enough though, the other effects of testosterone aren't that obvious in me. my facial hair grows more slowly than many of my age(At least in this country), my voice isn't that deep, my normal body musculature is in no way over average (when i wasn't training)...

in any case, thanks for the help. if i recieve any intereseting advice from any doctors or something i will post it here.

Excessive masturbation for some is a form of Sexual Compulsivity/Addiction. You might want to check out sites such as the "National Council on Sexual Compulsivity" and "Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous". I am not saying what you have is an addiction but you might find screening instruments on these sites or links to such sites. Another good source is the web page for Dr. Patrick Carnes. I worked with Patrick a few years ago and worked with sexual compulsives/addicts. Masturbation can get out of hand (lots of bad puns in that field) for some.

One consequence can be physical damage. In some exteme cases requiring reconstructive surgery. Or as with many compulsions can take over much of one's daily life with being pre-occupied and obsessed. It is a compuslion but a way to tell if it is a problem or and addiction is "if it is causing negative consequences" and "you are unable to stop the compulsion in the presence of these adverse consequences". Are you having a lot of soreness? Using a lot of time that interferes with your productivity? interfering with relationships? Do you notice any unmanageability due to masturbation?

As Will mentioned having labs and a physical might be a good idea to see if there is any damage. The web site for Patrick Carnes lists therapists who are trained and have expertise in this area. You might find one listed in your area. May be a good place to start. If you have any problems with web sites let me know. I can put you in touch with Patrick. He is currently at The Meadows in Wickensburg Az.

Hopefully this is all overkill and you don't have a severe problem but if you do help is available.

thanks alot, great post.

i have checked those sites, they aren't that well-designed link-wise and i kept getting lost of 404 errors, but i did also get some info. i would really appreciate it if you could get my in touch with a professional via email because i live in Jordan and none of these organisations seems to be operating here(not surprising at all).

my behavior isn't causing me any direct drawbacks... health wise, all is good, physical damage is limited to those times i was looking for a lubricant but couldn't find any so i ended up using "shaving cream" or "washing soap" which lead to a totally dried outer layer that later pealed off... it was actually that time when i realized how much out of control this may have become. You see, peeling outer skin, even if dead, causes considerable pain\itch but amongst all that, i would masturbate and much of the peel would peel more and it actually felt great at the time, but just a few mins later it hurt to even wear underwear! in any case, that only lasted a day or so.. then in a few days dead skin was peeled off and all was back to normal.

at other days it may be more controllable... for example, i could simply postpone masturbation to later times than times of stimulation... however i am personally feeling i am too much of a slave to this because throughout a whole yeat i have only stopped for 24 consecutive hours just once. i find it pathetic... but... i can't even set a daily barrier. if i set 3 as a max, i will eventually in a few days break that.

main things that 'stimulate' my masturbatory system...
1) boresome
2) studying
3) headache
4) full bladder
5) full rectum
6) certain music
7) lying on any mattress(in any form)
8) psychological pressure
9) anger

those 9 almost always lead to masturbation. though it is hard to imagine, pornography is not one of the top reasons behind this. I always have an image in my mind though, so it is never a thought-less action.

well, i believe that is all i can say so far, i would very much like to contact someone who could help because i totally despise of myself when i am not masturbating for doing so earlier.

Check out www.sexhelp.com. It is Carnes' site. I have a call into Carnes to see if he knows of any therapsits etc. in Jordan. He is away for the holidays but when I hear from him I will pass on any info he has. He has trained thousands of therpaists and many have become what are known as "Carnes Associates" identifying that they have expertise in working with this topic. I know there are some in Europe but am not sure about your geography.

Hey, another thing that might help is to stay around people that might hear your every move.

This stopped me for a while when I was visiting my parents over the holidays, and when my mother-in-law was here visiting.

This made the urge grow, but did stop it for a while. This, in turn, also made sex with the wife even better!

I'm usually around 1-2 times a day, while having sex about once a week now.

I heard before that one should stop any form of shooting the little guys out before a power lifting event for 2 weeks! Well, I was never able to do this, but one guy said it made his lifts better by adding about 10lbs onto a 350+ bench. It might just all be in his head too.

i personally am down to once a day :) been like this for a few days now.

i believe that lifter's experience may be true, but it will be hard to prove it physiologically.
