Hi all,

I was wondering if there are any alternative ways people know about to controlling asthma? It seems every MD out there just throws another drug at it.

Has anything been linked to certain foods for example that react with different people, or a deficiancy in one vit. or mineral, etc...

Thanks

Hi Torelli. I have asthma and I control mine with exercise. It is better than any food, supplement or drug.

I used to use a preventer and a reliever daily but since getting fit again I never need them.

Do you perform any cardio?

I guess that supplementing with essential fatty acids may help because they are supposed to help with inflamation.

There is quite a bit you can do with asthma. Being asthma is an inflammatory issue, supps that reduce inflammation often help. Anti oxidants, fish oils, NAC, may help. See LEF protocol on asthma:

Thanks for the reply. I do some cardio but it is not very structured right now. How much do you have to do to see relief?

Thanks Will for the LEF protocol, I will talk to my doctor and see what he thinks, he is usually pretty open to nutritional changes and always researches different therapies for me.

Thanks guys:)

Torelli I would say that you should be performing cardio at least twice a week. Three times plus would be better.

Just take it easy as getting fit takes time especially if you are asthmatic and make sure that you carry your reliever as you are exercising as you'll probably know that exercise can set an asthma attack off.

Thanks Boxer,

I will give it a try. I think three times a week in a structured format would be the way for me to start out. Also I use Udo's oil, but with the info from LEF I think I will supplement with straight Fish oil as well.
