Anyone know or heard of anything that helps stop snoring.My wife says i snore real loud but do not have sleep apnea(stop breathing).Some of the gizmos around the nose at night don't work for me,are there any supps that help?I also noticed some sites that deal with tongue exercises to rid snoring because they claim its the placement of the tongue that effects airway passages.Anyone have any experience etc in this area.zzzzzzzzzzzzzz :confused:

Are you sure you don't have sleep apnea? How's your daytime wakefulness?

Daytime i am fine, through the night i sleep fine but it's like my airway passage gets blocked so i snore loud,my wife says i do not stop breathing just loud snoring.Sleep apnea is when someone stops breathing 30 secs up to a minute(quite dangerous)then lets out a huge snore type sound mine is just a constant snore.I have searched and found a site that deals with tongue exercises to stop snoring i might try that because i have tried those snore strips and they do not work for me.I want to eliminate everything before adnoid surgery is the only option and even then i wouldn't do it(my wife and dog go in the guest room if i'm too loud) .So to answer your question i am fine during the day and at night but its a bother for my wife who has to put up with the noise. :( any thoughts to this situation?

Yes, I know what it is. :D The reason I asked about daytime wakefulness is that it's one of the first manifestations of sleep apnea. Snoring and sleep apnea may or may not be related in some people, but it's another possible warning sign.

There are other non-surgical options:

1) Some people have found they alleviate snoring by sleeping on their side. This may rearrange the way your pharyngeal structures fall at night so that snoring occurs less.
2) I don't know your weight or body habitus, but snoring has been associated with obesity. If the avatar is you, that doesn't appear to be a problem.
3) For sleep apnea, there is also the option of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). This apparatus works wonders for those with sleep apnea, and it also could help with your snoring by keeping the airway patent. Disadvantage of wearing the apparatus, which most people don't enjoy.
4) I can't say I know anything about the efficacy of the tongue-strengthening exercises, but maybe they are worth a try. The theory seems to make sense.
5) If all else fails, get your wife a really loud fan or a noisemasker. :D
