View Full Version : Same weight with bigger muscles!

Hi guys,
A thought that popped into my head and is giving me some conflicting thoughts.
I am 79kgs at the moment, training well and eating well. I understand that you must increase calories blah blah blah to gain weight.
My query is, a hypothetical situation, a person consumes its maintenance calories (applying principles of the ebook) over the course of one year. Trains 3-4 times weekly, changing routines every 3-4 weeks, volume and intensity, a good variety and mixture of w/outs. They're lifting heavier weights consistenly over the year and staying pretty much the same weight as when they started (as desired).
What happens this persons body??? Do muscles grow if calories are kept at maintenance levels? Do you need the extra calories to really benefit in the gym? :confused:

Yes. Add muscle + lose fat = roughly the same bodyweight but in better shape. I've done it many times (and gone the other way many times).
